Louisiana Gas Pipeline Explosion Injures Two

A pair of Energy Transfer LP contractors were injured in a Louisiana gas pipeline explosion at Barksdale Air Force Base. Both of the injured workers were transported to an area medical center. One worker was airlifted to the hospital due to the critical nature of his injuries. The second worker was taken by ground ambulance to the hospital. Both men are expected to recover. The specific nature of their injuries have not been released to the media or public.

The worker in critical condition has been identified as Adam Purland. The name of the second victim of the Barksdale Air Force Base gas pipeline explosion has not yet been made public.

Specific information surrounding the cause of the blast has been limited thus far. It appears that both men were involved in some sort of work associated with or nearby the gas pipeline in question. The nature of this work is not yet available.

Barksdale Air Force Base has stated that the explosion is not associated with operations of the facility itself. In other words, the explosion accident did not happen because of training exercises or other endeavors at the base.

The safety of all those in our community is a top priority. The swift response of our emergency management teams and our community partners played a critical role in minimizing the impact to the installation and local area.

The Barksdale Air Force Base gas pipeline explosion did result in a fire. The fire spread over about a half an acre before its was extinguished. No structures at the base appear to have been damaged in any way as a result of the blast. In addition, no other injuries appear to have occurred beyond the two workers directly impacted by the Louisiana gas pipeline explosion.
