Two Die in Double-Decker Bus Accident

Two people died in a Washington D.C. bus accident on a company-sponsored outing when the open-air sightseeing bus narrowly cleared an overpass, but the two passengers struck the 11th Street overpass.

Joshua Stoll, 24, and Michael Feiock, 35, who recently moved to the area, were with co-workers on a Friday night when the company bus left RFK Stadium to watch the Washington Nationals take on the Houston Astros recently. The bus passed safely under at least one overpass near the stadium’s parking lot before the accident, D.C. officials said.

The victims were reportedly the only two passengers standing on the upper deck of the bus, and there were no other injuries.

Witnesses reportedly said that while riding on the second level of the bus that day they recalled having to dodge branches and other low-hanging trees. As the bus approached the 11th Street overpass, those same witnesses said they noticed how close seated passengers were to the overpass. An investigation was still under way to determine where they were on the bus, whether they were facing the right direction at the time of the accident, and if it was driver of passenger error that led to the deaths.
